There are several small harbours from the Roman/Byzantine eras between Kyrenia and the Karpaz. They are still interesting places, because after a storm the sea often returns all kinds of beautiful (though unfortunately mostly broken) pottery* on the beach. On the picture (link below) you see the location of one of these old, small harbours. You can find this location on your left hand when you drive the old coastal road from Kyrenia in the direction of Tatlisu. I've put another detail about the location on the picture - if you are interested but can't find this place: mail me mcf.trnc@gmail.com and I'll reply with more exact coordinates.

* Note: it is not allowed in TRNC to take ancient items home. If you think you find something really valuable you must inform the Police.

As DC says even "small" pieces of Roman or other pottery can get you into very deep water, best to look, take pictures but not pick up and take home.

If you also go Tatlisu beach where the container got washed up and stand on the beach near the container and look at the embankment there are thousands of bits of pottery embedded in the soil which have been exposed, amazing really because they are all at different depths by about 2 metre's.
