As you may have read ın cyprus today an expat couple adopted a starving greyhound and named it Barney. Well today another poor greyhound lıkely to be barneys brother was found in a terrible state, starving to death but like most greyhounds still graceful and loving. He is being tested for leish and we are expecting the results on saturday. Agaın we are calling out to the public hoping someone might come forward and give this dog a chance. It is a pure greyhound 3-4 years old (so no puppy trainning] male. whıte wıth grey and brown spots.

If anyone can help or ıf you know anyone that ıs lookıng for a walkıng companıon please contact us at petcross

Good luck. I had 2 fantastic Greyhounds in the uk that eventually died of old age and it broke my heart and i vowed never again. But they are just about the best natured dogs about, if you have a cat its not a good mix tho ! They will be your friend forever. Good luck again.

this lovely greyhound turned up at our house yesterday he staggered up the driveway and collapsed we have seen awful cruelty here but this was the worst he was like a walking skeleton with huge sores on his body ! we bathed them and bedded him down in the garage , today he has been to pet cross and we have agreed to treat him here for now ..he is fed every few hours and we are cleaning his wounds....even with all this pain he manages a tail wag ! he will make a lovely pet and companion for some one and desperately needs a forever home ...please give him a chance we can be contacted on 0396 825 2095 ( Jan and Bill ) or Pet Cross ,

fingers crossed for this lovely lad !

I am a neighbour of Jan and Bill and saw the greyhound just after he had been dumped outside their house. In all my travels across the world ,in particular the far east, I have never seen an animal treated so cruelly.I saw him yesterday after he had been to Petcross and he is absolutely delightful despite the pain he must be going through. He evidently comes from the Karsiyaka area and I for one would like to know if anyone has seen a greyhound at someones house-they need confronting as they are evidently not part of the human race as I know it.He will make a fabulous pet for someone and If i did not have two dogs already he would find a place in my house!.I have to take my hat off to Jan and Bill for their kindness to this lovely dog,who without their assistance would just have laid where he was abandoned and died.God bless you.

Maybe this "gentleman" knows something about these greyhounds. He was advertising for homes for greyhounds on this forum some time ago. Serkan@mesarya-racing.com . He had or has North Cyprus Greyhound Racing Association at Mesarya Greyhound Stadium, Inonu- Gazimagosa. The racing took part in the heat of the summer in the evenings, the dogs having to race more than once! Greyhounds are basically couch potatoes as most owners will know, but can go like a torpedo for short distances. They are very laid back animals. In all the years I have lived here, now going on 28 years, I have never known anyone who owned such a dog. I was brought up with a greyhound that belonged to my sister and she was so lazy, but so loving.

Hi Jan and Bill,

Thank you so much for allowing us to come along to see the abandoned greyhound. I have to agree with your neighbour and you that in all my life I have never seen such a case of neglect and appalling cruelty. He is skin and bone and covered in sores, some of them down to the bone, but despite all this he wagged his tail and put his head in our handsto be stroked. As we said , as long as he gets along with our 2 sighthounds we would be happy and priveleged to give him a forever home as we have fallen in love with him already. Bless you both for saving him from certain death

Stuart and Nicky x
