Ok I admit, a few of his comments where not what people wanted to hear but the guy spoke his mind. Did he really deserve the sack? Why do they call them linesmen and not lineswomen???

Definitely the right decision ! On air or off , those remarks should be saved for the pub ! replays showed the linesman got it RIGHT ! Mr Sky should have accepted that but couldn't resist a little jibe about women referees ! I don't like him as a commentator but enjoy his after match bit very much .And of course they are called assistant referees now aren't they ! I wonder if they will scrap the after match bit now ? I hope not but who will take over ? Answers on a post card please !

I like a bit of banter the same as anyone, and let's face it the girls give us guys just as much! But if you are in the public eye and constantly in danger of being recorded, you have to be careful. It's the nature of the job, he is supposed to be a professional remember!

Personally, I think that the decision to sack him is a bit over the top and says more about the influence of the PC Brigade than common sense - a warning or heavy fine would have been more than adequate. His comments were made 'off air' and were never intended for transmission and to be honest his comments could hardly be deemed offensive in the true sense of the word. It amounted to a bit of 'battle of the sexes' bar room banter which you could hear any day of the week down your local spoken by both men and women. I will now await the tirade from the ladies Paul

Sorry but he was not sacked for the clearly sexist remarks about the female assistant referee but for the sexual harassment of a fellow employee. Gross misconduct so only one outcome. Harold2555

I thought he was quite right-football, cricket and rugby -played by men watched by men coached by men the woman's place is in the kichen making the teas. Its another example of the world gone mad- and been taken over by radical street feminests and homosexuals.

Loose Women or Men Haters as it is known on ITV make sexist remarks about men everyday so why have these people not been sacked?. Andy Gray has been stitched up over the phone tapping by the News of the World who is also owned by Murdoch. He will win his case for unfair dismissal and will probably end up on Talksport Radio in the near future

Has nothing to do with sexist comments and everything to do with suing the News of the World, in my opinion of course. Cannot imagine what justifies a salary of £1.7m though, certainly not his pretty face (oops is that sexist )

When you consider also that he asked a lady to attach his microphone on to his trousers and pointed to his loin area, it was long overdue. The presenter should have been fired too. This is not a mistake, it is a frame of band and it has no place in today world.

yeah he didnt really get fired for saying a silly remark about the female linesman, it was his ridiculously inappropriate sexual harassment of his female co-presenter that got him the sack. Otherwise keys would be out the door as well, though that may soon follow. He can complain about being stitched up all he wants, but the fact of the matter is he said stupid things and sexually harassed someone in the workplace while wearing a microphone and being filmed. He did what he was sacked for on camera and he knows it.

To me Andy Gray is a victim of his inability to be impartial in many areas of his work. His comments made in matches involving Everton and the likes of Manchester United were often blatantly biased so always best to seek a second view after his reporting. For a footballer who could only kick with his head he has had a good innings over a very long period of time at what seems to be a salary well beyond what many dedicated and talented people earn, male or female. I hope he can get over it, I can !

I hope the beautiful Sandra Bullock look alike who refs on snooker didnt get those sexist remarks. She does a great job. Yes we know its a mans world but we have evolved. Girls do like sport also and if they can have a career in it why not. You dads out there who took your kids to football, rugby, cricket etc showed them the way. Look at Gabby Logan and the life she has made from it as Terrys other daughters have x

I don't think anyone should have lost their job over this. Us women are more than capable of standing our own corner and dealing effectively with these sort of comments and attitudes. Actually I hate the politically correct brigade coming to the "rescue" of women. All it does is perpetuate the view that women need someone to come to their rescue! Often it does more harm than good.

Msg 13 - Hippo. There are 26 million females playing across the world, 4.1 million playing affiliated football, a 54 per cent growth since the year 2000 (FIFA Big Count 2006).Over 20,000 females have successfully attained FA coaching qualifications (including 150 Level 3 - UEFA ‘B’ - coaches). The number of female referees has increased by 21 per cent.Forty-two per cent of children in The FA Tesco Skills Programme are girls and 20 per cent of FA Charter Standard Leagues are female leagues. Whilst one has learned from past postings, you are often still in the neanderthal stage in your thought processesses, the above information disabuses you of the notion, women aren't involved in football. I am pleased to learn today that Keys has also been fired - both moronic males (Grey clearly has no moral compass - four children with three women-constantly unfaithful-arrogant and ignorant of social mores) both hugely overpaid-this is a well needed reality check-hopefully a learning curve

On Loose Women - a programme I have only watched very occasionally - the women are just vacuous air-headed 'stuck on stupid' women - playing to a baying audience, and from what I have seen only ever make GENERAL remarks about men, that most people say or hear on a daily basis - such as "they don't do their share of house-work", "never read instructions", "won't ask the way" - what Grey and Keys said was specifically targeted at professonal women the equal, or better, than they are. They were also nefarious (said off air) in what they said - showing their arrogance, bitterness and misogyny.

| yes As a professional pundit he said that official ,who happened to be a woman, didnt know the offside rule just before she was about to handle a game. Seen him before on about on where refs went wrong,Easy to be the bigshot when you have the luxury of looking at 100 replays and 50 angles. Another self centred idiot who confuses the size of his paypoke with the size of his talent. andrew4232 message 32 ' who really cares ! | I think the first incident regarding the lineswoman's knowledge of the offside rule, was just banter. However for the lewd comments he made to the female presenter - he had to go. I do think though there's more to this than meets the eye. |
