Am in urgent need of some Anchor stranded (6) silk for a cross stitch I am doing. Two numbers are 76 and 77, its a sort of dark pink, two shades almost alike!! Is there a shop this side that does anchor, or anyone out there with an odd bit or half a skein? The other two are greens, 875 and 876 - again 1 skein or less would probably do but I am definitely going to be short!! Am not going UK til May for replenishments!!!! If anyone has any forgotten in a sewingbox and could drop into the BRS hut in Girne or at Lambousa, I can collect and give a donation to a charity if they liked, or pay. Info welcomed!

If you have access to the conversion chart to DMC, I have loads of threads that you'd be welcome to borrow - if you can find the DMC number

Hi,

I do a lot of cross stitch. I buy my skeins from a shop in Lefkosa, they are 1TL each, they stock full range of DMC, not anchor though, but if you can find out the corresponding number, then you can get the DMC threads. The shop is next door to the betting shop opposite China Bazaar. I don't know the name of the shop but it has a full range of crafts, such as wool, tapestry yarns and kits, buttons, beads, threads everything really.

I'll Google and see if I can find a conversion chart. Am afraid I do not know Lefkosa, never shop there, either side!! But, Krin, if I can find the numbers I will get back to you, thanks to both of you.

Theres a shop in Girne high street near the ING bank that sells a vast range of threads, he speaks good English, is very helpful and will either have what you want or know where to get it, and is reasonable priced.

Anybody who sews, crochets or knits should go to the old city in Lefkosa and have a look round the shops in the street parallel to the green line, near to the Lokmaci crossing point. Really great choice and good prices.
