I'm smitten with the Apple I Pad 32 but know very little about it.So can one of you good people give me some advice as to the advantages or disadvantages compared to a 4 GB Laptop.I appreciate the I Pad is smaller. For instance do you still require an ISP,can I still get Yahoo or Google as my main page, can I Skype, surf, email etc, etc. Many thanks in advance.

I am on my IPad which I got for my birthday last year and I love it.

It takes a bit of getting use to after many years on a Microsoft pc, just trial and error. Most of the apps downloaded from the apple store are no more than £5.99 a piece, which if you think about how much windows 7 or Microsoft office is to buy, then it works out very cheap. Also you do not have to buy the whole package (ie: microsoft office) but down load the modules you want only from it.

In your settings you can choose which search engine you prefer to use in Safari for you internet. Hope this helps a little.

Ossie

I have an iPad 64GB +wi-fi & 3G capability for sale, almost new. It is a lovely piece of kit but it is not a laptop as you know it. It depends what you want to do with it, entertainment, surfing the net, portability, downloading loads of stuff its great. Kudos 100%. Downside: There is limited functionality for documentation manipulation, in my opinion.

At present the one I have for sale is currently top of the range, if you are interested give me a call. We are looking for near to the UK Applestore purchase price of £700 as it has rarely been used, we don't need the portability, we have an iMac.

Ossie, no I am not the chap you met at the magic bar, I am a she!

Games are not loaded on to start with like most pc. I downloaded my games apps via apple store, a lot of them are free, some at 56p and there upwards. You choose what you want, not what you are given. The iPad does not replace your pc as you need this to sync in with to iTunes/apple store of up dates etc. For emails, surfing the internet, photos and music - fantastic. I am still new to the numbers, pages, keynotes, documents everywhere.... Office apps, which do appear to offer the same, if not more, than your usual Microsoft office. I think the main fall back is that the memory is not the size of a pc, but I presume this is why you sync with a pc to back your work up to and remove old data off your iPad. I even have skype working off it and filmon tv. AND it's nice, neat small to carry around with you. Last time we went back to the Uk we download films/tv programmes to watch on the flight, the screen is so clear.

The touch screen makes everything so much easier to use, surfing and making things bigger, moving things around. I bought an adaptor in the Uk that takes my memory card for downloading photos direct from my camera.
