My Nissan Cube wil not start, it did have a flat battery. I am coming over to Cyprus in mid March, if I can't sort it out, I made need to get it lifted and towed ( its a automatic) to our local garage in Lapta. Does anyone know anyone who has a breakdown truck local to Lapta. We are near Lapta new cemetery. Thanks in advance.

I had to get mine recovered from Ercan airport last month. The garage at the back of Nosheen (used to be friends hotel) picked it up and delivered it to my garage in Lapta. Charged me 150tl. Sorry can't remember name but their number is 0533 8618464 Maggie

Laptarunner, there is a man with a tow truck on the right hand side as you drive up to Lapta Cemetry. His name is Yusu, number....0533 875 8902. I'm pretty sure he has the lifting gear too.

laptarunner; If it is just the battery, it will cost you the same price to replace it instead! If there is a supplier locally, they would usually come and replace it for you, if you asked them.

We use (and have done for a few years) Safer garage. Come up the hill and round the bend from Chateau Lambousa. You come to a T junction. Dont use the garage that is directly opposite because he ripped us off big time when we first came. Turn right at the T junction and you will notice a turning left with another garage. Ignore that and a few yards further on (it`s actually the back road that brings you back on the main road to Karsiyaka) set back is Safer Garage. He is very helpful and reasonable.

Just a quick update on my car problem, last week we were over and indeed there was still a problem with the car. On Whistler's advice went to see Safer garage, he spoke little English but more than my Turkish, but a quick phone call to his mate, I explained the problem, he and his mate came up to the house, we towed the car to the garage. The following day, it was sorted, a new battery was need, plus new fuel filter and a bit of pipework. Battery was 160 YTL and total cost was 260 YTL. I think that was very good value, ok language was an issue. But a postive story on a local business. I would go back to use this guy again.
