Also when I press the left shift key, my documents, music, and pictures folders open up, and when I press the number three, the firefox help screen pops up.

Is it a laptop?

If so borrow a keyboard and plug it in to see if it's a keyboard malfunction. If a desktop take your keyboard to another PC and check it out. Either way it should determine if the keyboard is the source of the problem.

Go to China Bazzar - buy a new keyboard - chuck the other one in the skip, problem solved! Life is too short to worry on small hardware problems unless you are a seeker of truth and wisdom - lol.

Seems like lots of people are having the same problem - haven't read through all the links so there may be a solution in one of them.

Steve

Apparently there was a problem last year with Windows OS and some PS2 driven keyboards (mainly laptops).

Two areas to check are: the Ease of access settings - try removing all settings (uncheck any boxes relating to light keystrokes). Check the release number of your ps2 drivers, you want the very latest version from either Microsoft or the keyboard manufacturer's site.

Failing this try using a USB keyboard, these were not affected.

Best of luck
