Newlad, totally agree. What a once in a lifetime - probably - for the players, fans and townsfolk of Crawley. No doubt Utd will lay on the 'premier' style for them - they deserve it Will Fergie play a resreve side again???

This may sound slightly ironic coming from a Man City but I cannot feel any romance towards ' the Man City of non league's cup run. They have spent ( backed by a far east consortium) crazy money on players. They are a non-league team only on paper. They have signed players wanted by league 1&2 clubs and blown those clubs out of the water with the package on offer. Some similarities with city you may say but in reality all city have done is accelerate the period in which they have spent vast sums of money to enable them to compete with the 'old top four'. Crawley on the other hand have to use the same phrase blown all their rivals out of the water leaving the likes of Luton York Wrexham and Grimsby trailing in their wake. Personally I don't see the point in investing such significant sums in a club sandwiched between Brighton and London with an average crowd of 800 odd. At least city fans have a decent fan base who could say 'we were there when we were shit'.

To top it all in steve evans they have the most loud mouthed arrogant manager in non league football. Let's not forget his time at Boston when he was lucky to escape a prison sentence for falsifying contracts. If it was a club like AFc wimbledon then that would be really magic but creepy crawley no thanks.

Jessie, You just dont get it do you, what a very blinkered view you have of lower league football, and the magic of the F.A.cup.Cst your mind back to 1965 when you played in front of a crowd of 8,065. Winning the cup in 1969 must have been massive as well. Please dont patronise what Crawley have achieved.Get yourself to some non league games, and witness the dedication and commitment that these players, staff, and supporters put in.Take away the blinkers Jessie and get out there, Paul.

newlad - agreed. a dream come true for team, fans, town etc. A day in manchester and then the ' field of dreams'. players walk out alongside Giggs, Rooney, scholes etc. What a day for the players and the fans going to there. Dont spil the dream, that is what the FA cup is all about

Paul I have been following a non league team for over a decade.I buy a season ticket to help finances even though I only get to watch a handful of games each year because of the distances involved. I watch city but gain as much if not more satisfaction from watching non league. In fact I spent over ten hours in a car yesterday travelling to watch them. Real non league involves 300 fans on a cold January evening in the middle of nowhere not 3000 utd fans jammed into gig lane.

And the first game I watched City play in the league was Macclesfield away. That was virtually non league! Well closer to non league than Champions League anyway !

lets hope its a real none league cup tie ,where you get to be pyhsical and run your legs off. for me i would like to see the upset ,just the once i would love it ....it would kick united up the arse to go win the league and may be push towards champs league .....this team lacks motivation for me is some areas i bet crawley dont when they walk out at O.T ps jessie ,when 10,000 little reds walk into ten acre lane down the road from the council buildings ,you will see none league at its prime kav

I don't think Fc United will ever be representative of what non league football is all about. Quite the opposite in fact. from what Ive seen FC United consists of a load of ageing former utd hooligans who have rather had the wind taken out of their sails by the fact Utd have been no less successful under the galziers and just use Fc United as another excuse to get away from the missus when FC United of Trafford are not on the Telly.

Hi Jessie, Re mess 20 "3,000 Utd fans jammed into Gig Lane" Hardly jammed is it,considering the capacity is over 11,000.Would be great to achieve such attendances though. At the moment they (F.C.) average just short of 2,000, Paul.

I didn't suggest there was any violence at Fc Utd Paul in fact I was surprsied to read in the Fc Utd article that there games were being categorized as high risk and their reputation needed restoring. Perhaps I should have used the word 'retired' rather than 'former' To make things clearer

mess33 jessie, you should know where leyton is because your definately not from clayton as you said.you are trying to slag utd fans of again.how can you say city fans were there when you were shit.you only got 36,000 when you were at maine rd.now you are suppose to be getting 46,000.thats a 10,000 differance.so that fan base of 10,000 where do they come from.

paul what gets me,city fans are always going on what gt supporters they are.one of the best chances they have of winning something the fa cup and 27,000 turn out.7000 were leicester fans and the kids went in for a pound.what sought of loyalty is that.the fella who owns them must be thinking what have i got to do to keep these fans happy.the truth in my opinion is city have a hard core of about 30,000 great supporters.some of the others turn up when you can get in cheap.the rest just jumped on the bandwagon, probaly support teams like rochdale and bury, stockport.city already have a big support from these areas.nothing wrong with supporting a team not from your area, because every game becomes a journey.but city fans like everyone to believe that manchester is blue.if manchester was blue what bad supporters mancs must be,when youve got the size of manchester and city cant fill the ground most weeks. manchester is red and manc cty fans know

I can't believe the massively inflated prices that Premier League football clubs have paid in the January transfer window. £50million for Torres. £35million for Carroll... At those costs, relatively speaking, even I must be worth £500K. Yours sincerely Emile Heskey

Oi Leyton take it easy! From memory our capacity at Maine Rd was nearer 28,000 before the move to Eastlands. We sold out more often than not but for the vast majority of games a 48,000 seater stadium fulfils our needs. We remain the peoples club of manchester and if our meagre wages won't spread to additional cost of cup games let alone prawn sandwiches then I am comfortable with that. Everton never sold out for the Chelsea cup game and attendance's were down across the board. I am bored to death of adverts on talk sport and the manchester evening news trying to entice more locals into the theatre of screams. Even Manchester City Council saw fit to name themselves after the only football team to come from Manchester. Like you , sir Taggart needs to accept that come his imminent retirement his legacy will be a club who are not even the biggest greater Manchester let europe. That said leyton next time I am over I will buy you a drink ........ Bitter lemon is it..........

Anybody who's dad is called Neville Neville and is incapable of growing a moustache is not to be trusted. The most overrated footballer of the modern era . Great days when the legend that is Shaun Goater made him look a complete mug in the last Maine Road derby. If the Nevilles play for England so can I.
