President Derviş Eroğlu’s Special Representative Kudret Özersay has said that the Turkish side expects the main features of the Cyprus negotiations process to be defined by the end of March. Speaking to the

BRT newsroom regarding the Cyprus negotiations process, Mr. Özersay noted that if an outcome is not reached by the end of March then it is highly unlikely that any compromise will be reached in the future.

“At this stage a great duty awaits the United Nations and the European Union” said Özersay.

Explaining that a series of ideas have been put forward by the Turkish side in order for a successful outcome to be reached by the end of next month, the special aide said “we will insist on these ideas”.

He said the main reason why the Cyprus issue has not been concluded in a short period of time is due to the lack of political will on behalf of the Greek Cypriot Side.
