Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has called on the Greek Cypriot leader to take concrete measures against racism and chauvinism and people who support this.

The Foreign Minister issued a written statement where he evaluated the latest statements made by the Archbishop Hrisostomos who he accused of planting enmity in South Cyprus against Cyprus Turks.

He said “while religious figures in the entire world are calling for friendship and commonsense Archbishop Hrisostomos is in fact leading racism and chauvinism in South Cyprus and this is creating great contradictions”.

He said Hrisostomos openly sharing the same views as the Greek Cypriot fascist organization ELAM and the leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Dimitris Christofias recognition of this proves how grave the situation is.

Repeating that the Cyprus Turkish side continues its efforts towards a just and lasting settlement on the basis of political equality of the two peoples of Cyprus, Ozgurgun said “the rise in racist attacks and statements in South Cyprus create serious concerns on the course of the solution process”.
