The leader of the Democrat Party Serdar Denktas has said that his party supports President Dervis Eroglu’s stance regarding a sovereign founding state during the ongoing Cyprus negotiations process. Democrat Party leader Serdar Denktas took part on a program broadcast on Bayrak Haber this morning and evaluated the latest tripartite meeting that took place in Geneva.

He said he did not believe that the ongoing Cyprus talks will yield any results and reiterated his Party’s demand for results to be achieved during the negotiations process.



“If the negotiations process drags on, then the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Cyprus Turkish people will not be able to develop”.

Stressing that the Cyprus Turkish people had no intention of being integrated to Turkey or patched up to the Greek Cypriot side Denktas said “if the Mersin port opens then the TRNC can stand on its own two feet”.

Yeah. Rubbish. We'll stand on our own two feet as soon as we find 'em... Unfortunately TRNC has no viable future without the RoC as a partner-state - inside the EU.
