Yesterday was a miserable day with the constant rain but I kept walking around singing 'Singin in the Rain' so my hubby, bless his little cotton socks, decided to download for me and we sat and watched it last night. I had forgotten what a wonderful, funny, energetic, talented movie this was and it was definitely the best movie we have seen in weeks! It knocked spots off all this modern rubbish we have been trying to watch. I also never realised until last night that it is 'Singin' and not 'Singing'. Any suggestions for other good oldies to download?

If you get a chance take another look at Donald Oconnor while he is singing....make em laugh...one of cinemas all time classics. Watched Brief Encounter last night, does not age......and if you can get a copy of The Lost Weekend which won 4 oscars back in 1945....my all time number one. good watching. Michael

Well, there's always the old favourite "It's a Wonderful Life" - unless, of course, you watched it over the Christmas period

Must agree with CJtill - Lost Weekend, starring Ray Miland, one of my all-time favourites. Also, "An Affair to Remember" - watched it (again) quite recently and it's still as good as it ever was.

Thanks everyone, I am now going to get the other half to look for those films. What better way to spend a saturday night than in front of a fire with my hubby (better put him first), a bottle of wine and a really really good movie. Thank for the suggestions.
