Hi Gary,

local by laws state that you must dive with a recognised dive centre. I dive with Cyprus underwater explorers, which is a small but friendly operation based in Lapta. All the centres dive essentially the same reefs.

Gary Msg 1 - we work with Asim's crew based from Escape beach - they have the only official BSAC centre in the North and also offer Nitrox and the Zenobia.

You will find details at http://www.flightholiday.co.uk or http://www.iah-holidays.co.uk/Scuba_Diving_Holidays.php

I,ve dived the Zen 6 times ..... with Steve at Taba in Pernera, done the accomodation, captains room, launderette, both vehicle decks (in through the side hatch & out through the coffin) & the engine room etc so not sure there,s a lot more to see.

Also dived the cliffs & the caves etc around Greco, you have any decent wreck dives on the north?

groupers . some large ones, different types of bream, octopus, moray, sometimes trigger fish, turtles, lots of squirrel fish, jack fish, small wrasse, and occasionally barracuda. I have seen rays and we get quite a lot of nudibranches

Do divers hold hands, I have some cousins in the south that love that sort of thing even without diving. I am sure they can be very helpful in this buddy type relationships.

Very impressive..... what you using? I have the Fuji F40, great results from a relatively cheap compact.... you must be using some type of strobe flash with that clarity.

Hi Gary,

I also dive with Cyprus Underwater Explorers and i must say that even though they are a small operation they are extremely professional and what i think is great is that their focus is all about the divers and not just about making a quick buck! When the water gets a little warmer... Zenobia here we come!

Re message #1... I dive with Amphora, based at Escape Beach, Alsancak http://www.amphoradiving.com/eng/index.htm

Amphora are used by locals (GC, TC and ex-pat), tourists, along with UN and British forces based in Cyprus. Their set-up and approach to diving is professional, without being intimidating to the "occasional" diver. Amphora have a brilliant social scene too - actively encouraging newbies to mix in.

Night, wreck, drift, reef dives... all available through Amphora. The night dives are generally not shore based - it is great falling off a RIB into the pitch black and dropping down the line...

If you need a dive buddy later this year - Amphora will ensure you are appropriately buddied up - no good just pairing people up, you need to be evenly matched.

Dr Tarık Izbul who runs Lefkosa Hyperbaric Medicine Centre http://www.emu.edu.tr/underwater/hiperbaric%20medicine%20center/en_index.html also dives regularly (weekly) with Amphora...

...can't wait to get bac
