| “It is time we seek communal reconciliation and understanding” Those were the words of President Derviş Eroğlu following yesterday’ extraordinary session at the Republic’s Assembly where he briefed members of parliament on the latest stage reached in the negotiations process as well as domestic issues. Speaking to reporters after yesterday’s session held behind closed doors which lasted for nearly 4 hours, the President said that the ongoing debates in the country would only serve to weaken the Turkish Side’s hand at the negotiating table, undermine the peace process and to create divisions among the people. |

| He also warned that this would harm relations with Turkey. Stating that it was necessary to introduce various measures to lower the tension in the country, Eroğlu said that the government and the state had launched work to overcome the difficulties faced. He said that he would be meeting with representatives from different segments of society within this framework in the coming weeks. As for the negotiations process, President Derviş Eroğlu said that he had once again received the support of the TRNC parliament. |
