| Ok, will try to help, not in the trade but have some engineering knowledge..... Exact costs depends on the ratings of your aircon and if you have the inverter or heat-pump type. The basic principle of a good aircon it to move heat in one direction or the other depending on heating or cooling mode. As the principle is the same in either direction, ie a compressor/evaporator and a couple of fans, unless there is a big difference in the ratings of heat or cooling performance, they should cost about the same. If you look at the data on this site, there is a worked example, showing about 1% difference in favour of cooling as it has a lower KW rating. http://www.temperzone.com.au/split-system-air-conditioner-7kw.aspx Any use?
