Information on Selling a Car in North Cyprus

Can anyone give me information on selling a car. Friends of mine want to sell their car. They live in the UK but will be over in March, what paperwork etc . do you need to do this.

I wouldn't be surprised that if they want you to sell it on their behalf .. You will need Power of Attorney ..

Perhaps Yorg can explain ..



On the subject of cars .. Can a wifes name be added to the registration document as a joint owner ..

Actually Harita, it is advisable to get both names on the log book, that way if God forbids anything happens to either of you the vehicle automaticaly belongs to the survivor.

Another quaint TRNC law.

First of all you need all the documents up to date

log book/road tax (paid)./emissions test/mot/insurance cert

then both the seller and buyer go to a noter with their passports and fill in a transfer form(you have to know your relative addresses) for a fee off about 25tl including the stamps on the form

then the deal is done for the seller and exchange monies

the buyer then goes to Lefcosia and registers the log book in their name @250tl simple!

if any of the documents are not up to date then your problems start but post here with a contact no and I can get in touch we are in Karsiyaka

Batgirl, not exactly true. MOT not important and emmisions not important for transfer. If road tax is out of date then this must be paid at the time of transfer.

Noticed on Cyp44 you have dealings with YORG, I did e mail him with my car log book, but so far have not heard back from him.. Will wait a bit longer for a reply, hopefully he can come up with a price, spent too long with Dolphin Movers trying to sort things out and they never get back to you.
