I had occasion to visit the Dark Side yesterday and coming over the Hill past Moni the whole of Limassol bay is in front of you. There in the middle of the bay is either a production platform or a drilling rig. Hard to see from the motorway with no binoculars. Anybody know any more, maybe one of our southern cousins!! Time to buy the stetson and cowboy boots.

It appears to be a semisub crane vessel that is enroute to Stavanger. There should also be a couple of tugs with it as well. It is in port either because there is rough weather predicted on its route or it needs some repairs carrying out but if it is not dockside then it may be the former. The name should be the 'Thialf SSCV' and apparently it arrived on the 8th Feb.

It didnt look like a semi submersible more like a drilling platform, large Derrik in the centre. it is moored offshore.
