Front page of today's Sunday Mail... Clinic in Famagusta offering fertility treatments - the only service on offer anywhere in Europe. Is this a good thing for the TRNC and does this help to put us on the world map!

Not sure about putting us 'on the world map'. If it helps people get the baby they want I think it's ok. Is it right morally?

It is in the interest of the world population that the genders should be almost equal but I cannot see how this ratio can be changed at these prices. In any case I am sure the demand for boys or girls wwill be almost equal. So I see nothing wrong about people seeking to obtain a baby of their own choice. Most people in Cyprus have two kids only and they will go for a third one only if the first two are of the same sex. So why not have the third one of their own choice. Give them a chance. ismet

I remember a few years ago that N. Cyprus were specializing in opticians and people were coming here on holiday and getting their specs at knock down prices, from the many opticians available... this put Cyprus on the map, but that seems to have gone by the by now and last time we were there I dont remember seeing many at all...

Dont see that will effect NC either way, unless its unregulated ,and if it was regulated it would have be through Turkey ,along EU lines. I would be very uneasy if TRNC was the regulator. I mean your child would be 10 years old before you were giving the birth certificate and had proof of parenthood.

Past experience says otherwise. In China and India it is boys. In fact the Arabians practiced something very similar just before the Muslim religion was born. But they did not isolate the the particular sperm to have the effect, they killed the females at birth, which is something his Holiness corrected once established. The chinese did the same when they could only have one child. Now if there is anybody out there who wish to practice selecting the sex of the baby naturally during conceivation, just let me know. I can produce the correct materials on demand.

As far as I know its the sperms that determine the sex of the baby. Some have x and some have y chromosomes. They have different physical abilities i.e. one type can stand an alkiline environement better than the other type. Hence it gives the doctors a chance to control the numbers "naturally" by controlling the environment. ismet
