Not exactly sure, but as long as you have not been caught by the police, and get it renewed immediately upon return - backdated to when it expired -think you should be okay. Am sure others will know for certain though.

Tax is payable from the day it ran out - there is a fine but it is only small. I had to pay tax on a vehicle (I bought for somebody else whilst they were in the UK) that was a year out of date - that means I had to pay the current years tax and the previous years tax as well but the fine was only 60TL on top of all that. At least the guy was honest and paid up the years back tax and the fine as the car should have been taxed by the company he was working with but they had stiffed him and not paid it.

Renewed my car tax last month. I was 8 months late (had misread the tax disc) but was only fined 60TL. Expected to get hammered by a fine but was pleasantly suprised. Paul

There are no simple answers over here to any question. depends on the day, the weather, the person dealing with you. Expect the worst, then you wont be disappointed.

as I said mine was 22% of the tax I should of paid as my car tax was the sum of 1717 I paid 2094 tl and that is apparently how it is worked out. 22% of the amount that should have been paid so dont know where you get 100tl from msge 8. its on the tax form . it will obvioulsly be minimal if your original tax is minimal
