I think the gloria jeans in Lefkosa had some for sale one time I went in. I know they have coffee presses and things so they're probably your best bet.

There is a shop in Lefkosa where I bought a Kenwood electric coffee grinder and Krups Expresso machine. But that was 3 years ago. I think the shop is still there but I don't know if they still sell the coffe grinder. I will try to remember directions if no other suggestions bear fruit, but I doubt I can be completely accurate.

Five years ago I bought two grinders from Starbucks at Birmingham airport - I only say this because I have only used one of them once a day for the past five years! It is still going strong but I won't let the other one go as the first must be near its "death" date by now! The thing is they were not too expensive back then - about £10.00 each - and have been the best coffee grinders I have ever had. I know there is a Starbucks just across the walk thru gate to the South in Lefcosia and that last time I went that way they had the same grinders for sale. If I ever needed a new one then that is the place I would head for. Hope it helps. Have had other brands before that do all sorts of wonderful things but all I wanted was a gadget to grind beans with and this has been the best.

A bit more - I know a lot of people don't like the coffee beans out here but I find that buying two bags of beans from the Con coffee outlet behind the round tower in Girne - one dark roast and one light roast - then mixing them together in a large basin is just right for me. Not expensive when judged against other available brands either. Every now and then I will buy a bag of expresso beans and add a handful or two of them to the blend if I want a change but over the years I have become used to the wonderful smell and taste of the local beans when cooked into fresh coffee in the old pot on the gas stove!

The beans are - I think - the same ones used for Turkish coffee but I grind them for my coffee perculator. I find the dark roasted ones to be too strong and that is why I mix them with the light roasted beans. Turkish not needed as the lady in the shop speaks good English and in anycase they only sell two types of beans - dark ones and light ones. I think (memory fades faster the older I get) I pay 28TL for 1.750 Kg of beans and that is two bags.

I bought one from Argos in UK last year for a lady for £20. She is a member on here so I could ask what it was like and if you want I could bring one over but I am not over until June if you can wait that long. Linda
