| The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative to Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim has confirmed the progress achieved at the Cyprus negotiations but yet said that much more work needs to be done for a settlement. Delivering a speech at the Winter Medal Parade of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, Buttenheim said that UNFICYP has been working to contribute to a lasting and viable solution to the Cyprus problem. |

| Providing information about the works of UNFICYP, she said there are some 2 thousand additional mutual crossings with the opening of the Yeşilırmak crossing point, on a weekly basis. Also touching upon the de-mining activities, the UN Special Representative stated that the UN de-miners have cleared more than 27 thousand landmines across the buffer zone and over nine square kilometres of land is now being farmed as a result of mine clearance |
