Interview with Tatar in the Cyprus Mail http://www.cyprus-mail.com/turkey/austerity-or-bust/20110220

He seems to be telling it like many think it is - most importantly Ankara.

But the unions won't be happy.

March 2 will be a day to conjure with, methinks.

Anthony....thanks for the link....a straightforward explanation that even I can understand !

As you say, March 2nd could well be a turning point in the fractured relationship between TRNC and its "benefactor ".

At last, the Truth is slowly emerging and a harsh one at that.

The TRNC spending over 80 per cent of Turkish aid on covering public sector salaries instead of investing in the private sector!

13,000 retired public sector workers currently receiving pensions. .. Paying social security to another 28,000 retired private sector workers, meaning that he pays more than twice as many retired people than he does working ones.

‘state’ broadcaster BRTK, which has 700 people on the payroll for “a job that could be done by 200”, as an example of how the gravy train rolls on ...

and much more to come out into the open ...

In the end common sense will prevail.

Oh look, another flying pig.

A very interesting article indeed, and, as another posted said, in terms even I could understand.

Many thanks.

Interesting - yes! But who reads it? This kind of article should be required reading for the Unions not the south Cypriots - but into Turkish for the locals - and repeated weekly until it gets understood - or do they understand but dont want to acknowledge their intransigence.
