Hi There.

I am after a satellite package that will Include an hd receiver with a good range of film, entertainment and news channels in English, with BBC entnmnt and lifestyle as well. I am not at all interested in English Prem League.

Does anyone have any recommendations, rough costs and who may offer a good install experience?

Thanks to all in advance....

jlb777 - I no longer get involved in debates on CY44 so, if I were you, I'd have a look at http://www.satellitecyprus.com

ADMC is an English Premier League package and if you don't like football, it would be a waste of money.

OSN sounds like your best bet.

Dear jlb777

Whatis 'best' is unique to your requirements and situation

The 'BEST' for a UK / IRL national is a 4.2m dish and SKY - you can record things and watch 'em when you like. You don't HAVE to subscribe to SKY as there are excellent HD receivers with built in recorders.

BBC entertainment is showing stuff after it is on local UK Channels

A compromise is a 1.8m dish - no BBC 1-4 but you CAN get major UK events via the red button

If you don't want a big dish ( say, max 1m ) you can get BBC Entertainment via Turksat

If you are willing to sacrifice BBC Entertainment then getting a Nilesat dish will give you access to 8+ Eng lang TV channels for free.

The 'danger' of subscribing to Arabic sourced progs is that no-one in Cyprus can guarantee continuity of receiving the programs . We aren't supposed to receive the pay channels from there.

Dear Coffeeman

WHAT is wrong with packages like Turksat, Nova Cyprus and even SKY?

Do you mean the pirated packages ?

In a service industry, the good suppliers are those that sell a quality product, do what they say they will do, advertise their telephone numbers, answer calls seven days a week and don't get involved in trying to be the cheapest.

They charge a price at which they can stay in business to service their customers.

Comparing the price of rice in China to the price of rice from a Chinese restaurant in Mayfair is......................

well it's just silly, mischevious and an insult to the intelligence of board members who, I'm sure, know the difference between a business adding value to their products and box-shifters

Professional installation of FTA packages, OSN packages, ADMC packages - in business in the TRNC for 7+ years with the same telephone numbers - 0533 869 4372

'insulting board members is making out 'professionalism' - when you - have NO control of the subscriptions

Things like SKY cost far more than the service you offer.. you are just an unofficial agent.. and folks can buy the kit DIRECT from a ARAB country for umpteen times less than you advertise..

Tell us please the skill required to fit a 1m dish ( you are fitting a 1m dish) to catch a strong signal

AS we are talking 'cheap'.. I remind folks that the receivers Washerman sells can be bought by anyone off the shelf in a supermarket - 3.5 times less than he was initially charging...

So what 'value' do you add...?

Bear in mind your tel number has covered other businesses.. HOW LONG have you supplied a service that is less than one year old ? ;)

Hi M's

I believe washerman sells the 12 month osn premium plus package, with osn hd showbox dvr receiver, including dish, cable and fitting for about 2100 tl (circa 850 pounds).

I have seen some UK / euro sites providing the package for about 300 pound less, BUT only the none dvr Humax receiver and no dish, fitting etc. Unless I am incorrect, I guess washerman is charging the extra 300 pound for install, dish, cabling, time and upgraded receiver, which to me seems fair - if my pricing estimates are right of course.

Happy to be proven wrong, just trying to offer my view

Well, people with an ulterior motive can speculate on here as much as they like - everytime they do, it gives me another opportunity to advertise the service that I am offering.

Customers will make up their own minds and not be swayed by comments which are so obviously bias that they mean nothing.

I'd sooner be judged by my customers who come to me mostly, by recommendation.

My customers are not the sort that want to penny pinch there way through life. They appreciate quality and value. One of them told me recently that they bought what they thought was a 'cheap' TV system which in the end, they couldn't afford. They couldn't afford it because they ended up having to get rid of it and get my system installed - the first one was a total waste of money ! Money that he couldn't afford to waste, no matter how well-off he is.

Comparing the price of rice in China to the price of rice from a Chinese takeaway in the West End is just silly and an 'attempt' at being mischevious

It's the same as comparing the price of a house in Mayfair with the price of a house in Moss Side and complaining about the difference

Customer Guarantee:

I personally guarantee to maintain the level of personal service that I give (7 days a week) and promise that I will never be tempted to move into cheap-price box shifting - bad customer service is the result of dealing with too many customers.

More channels have disappeared from the Pirate TV packages in Northern Cyprus because yet another company has moved to the new mode of signal delivery - I'm afraid that the writing is on the wall for the TV Pirates.

Dear jlb777

Re OSN

There is no 'premium plus' package .. could it be the PREMIERE Plus Package ?!

That costs 538 GBP (3,275.00 SAR ) at RETAIL pricing.. Do you think 'Washerman is paying retail ?

Having purchased said kit, ( paying a YEAR in advance ) what happens at subscription renewal time if Washerman and his Arab connection have a falling out or The company finds out he's grey-importing and Digi-Turk ask 'em to stop the supply source.. ?

Re Abu Dhabi TV

Can you please post what Washerman is charging, now, and we can compare it with what he WAS charging .. you might find he is now 'discounting'.... I wonder what 'influenced' that ? ;)

Are you aware that other 'long standing' companies have offered Showtime before and got caught out by a mass change of receivers - the replacements would have been sent to the addresses registered in the Arab state and didn't 'make it' to 'TRNC'... end of biz model... lots of disgruntled clients..

Washerman re 11 / 12

WHAT *is* my ulterior 'motive', please ?

You are selling a genuine pay-tv system - but it is not designated for the area you promote .. you CAN'T give any guarantees.. yet folks are paying annually up front... and paying a LOT more than they can buy it direct.

Are they being made aware that there is an option to pay monthly for 'proper' clients of OSN.. in the light of past experiences, don't you think they should HAVE that option ?

Your analogy re the Restaurants is 'invalid' - you are supplying a finished product.. the only 'value' you can add is the quality of the installation - ANY DIY bloke can catch a signal from Nilesat and run a cable.

If my posts have meant your prices are falling - which they are... then that's great for the members - and I make no apology for THAT ;)

HOW are you going to guarantee clients replacement cards / receivers - if there is a ( anti-piracy 'upgrade') and what will you charge ?

>>Pure Malicious speculation<<

How so...? The encryption method used by OSN has being thoroughly hacked and AD TV's answer was to build in the 'card' ...and charge for the receiver and subscription.

The new concept by pay tv cos ( to combat piracy / card sharing) is to issue new receivers - periodically or even change the encryption supplier.

These new cards or card /receiver combos are sent to the address where the subscription is registered.. and that WON'T be 'TRNC'..

It's already happened with Showtime and it finished Coldsat...

Please don't accuse me of 'speculation'.... When have I EVER been wrong in my predictions re an industry I know INFINITELY better than you...?

Suggest you deal with my scenario and post your guarantee to ensure continued reception and a promise to match up clients to the updates...
