Hi, Can anyone advise me which is the best service to subscribe to for UK TV channels via broadband? Someone has suggested Film On. Geoff P.S. this enquiry is for friends of ours here who have just arrived as new residents, they cannot put up a big dish (like I have) where they live to receive SKY as it is a rented property.

Geoff They could try downloading Expat Shield. This enables you to access BBC I Player, ITV Player etc and stream live tv, asuming of course that you have a fast enough download speed. I would suggest a minimum of 2MB if you want to avoid excessive buffering. http://expatshield.com/products/ It is free so nothing lost in trying it. Paul

re msg 2 You ARE losing something - your privacy.. EXpatShield is free as they get paid for pushing adverts at you and they monitor your TV viewing preferences.. If you use a VPN your browser isn't hi-jacked

Mark Yep, appreciate the 'problems' associated with Expat Shield but I only use it occasionally and for me, it serves its' purpose. Regards Paul

Had to laugh at this site .. 1/ look at it's name Then read this 2/ "Hacking or other illegal activities are NOT used running this site." If they are in any way rebroadcasting content - they ARE illegal - but hey if it works - for now....

I get all my TV here via a (paid for) VPN service and using a 1 mb internet connection. I pay 6 pounds a month for the VPN service. When watching content via a net connection there are two types of content. Streaming content and downloadable content. For streaming content you need a fast reliable connection. For downloaded you do not. BBC Iplayer offfers both streaming and download. 4oD offers only streaming for free and some content for download via itunes that you pay for. I would say my connection works 90% of the time for streaming. On iPlayer I do stream using their 'lower bandwidth' option. I also use 40D (shameless, inbetweeners, phone shop, mary portas etc etc), itv player and watch five and have bought download content via iplayer. My TV (40 inch lcd/led) is connected directly to my PC as a dumb display for the PC.

Hi Mark I am fine , hope all is well with you just tried that hackedcabletv.com site - the aspect ratio on all the channels I have tried is wrong - drives me mad that I have to say.
