This is a question about last testaments, not Kate Middleton's fiance. I have property in the TRNC, and need to make a will which is valid there (I live in the UK). I was originally told that I could make a will here in the UK, but now I have been told that it is necessary for me to go to the TRNC to sign my will in front of a court official. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on this point, please?

Thank you, but it doesn't answer the question of whether my physical presence is required to register the will in the TRNC...

Try the search window this may help but I do think you need to be in the TRNC or at the London office of TRNC then send them to someone to register them on your behalf http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/20160.asp

Yes, Minotaur, you have to make a personal appearance at the Court offices.

Please see msg. 13 here http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/54099.asp First of all it is not necessary to deposit a will in court, it is only a preffered method of deposition. You can give the will to a beneficiary or a friend or your advocate or anyone you like to keep. Secondly your advocate should be able to deposit it into court for you but unfortunately each office acts independently and sometimes differently to each other. It is a matter of discretion. See the difference between Famagusta and Girne courts. There is nothing in the law about depositing a will into court. Hence the difference in its application. ismet
