Hi Josie1

To get UK tv stuff the best option is via Satellite - but the bad news is that means a BIG dish.. 4.2m

If you can 'sacrifice' BBC 1-4 you can get ITV1, Channel 4, Five and many SKY channels with a well installed 1.8m dish

IF you have good internet ( a rarity in 'north' Cyprus) then you can use a slingbox to view UK stuff from a sat receiver back home.. or you can use a special connection that fools the likes of iplayer that you are still in the UK.

The best package ( as you asked for English TV) to to get SKY World HD with a 4.2m dish

There are options to use a 1m dish to get Eng land packages from DigiTurk ( Turkey based) or Nova Cyprus ( based in the 'south')

There are companies offering services from Arab nations - but they aren't supposed to service Cyprus and there are no official dealers...and there is a history of companies who promise support but when there's changes they can't deliver :(

Thankyou mmmmmm,

Yes, my internet is far too slow & I would much rather have the comfort of watching it on my big TV screen.

Any ideas of the cost for DigiTurk or Sky World HD, please?

Thankyou for your help.

Dear Josie1

The cost of either depends on the package you go for

DigiTurk - you can get the equiv of a SKY+ and HD receiver that records progs for later playback - cost from 10GBP up to 50 GBP / month - installation costs are minimal - as only 1m dish necessary

SKY HD

4.2m option - you're looking at 2000+ GBP plus the receiver and package from 20 - 62 GBP / month - you may need to get a concrete base made - depending on location

1.8m option - you're looking at 600+ GBP plus the receiver and package from 20 - 62 GBP / month - you may need to get a concrete base made - depending on location

Washerman... your reliability counts for nothing - you are relying on a third party - and you have no official status - ANYONE can install a small dish and put a receiver on the end... you have no control over pay tv continuation.

Are you still charging 3 times of the cost of kit that Josie could get a friend to buy for only 170 from a Carrefour ?

Thanks again mmmmmm - I think I will probably go for the DigiTurk as the others seem expensive & it really just to get the News!

Many Thanks
