I've a five-figure sum in Sterling which I need to transfer into Euros. But the only way that my bank (Turkbank) say they can do this is buy changing the GBP into TL first and then buying Euros with the TL.

Obviously this means I get ripped off twice on the buy/sell spread.

Does anybody here know of a bank who will translate the GBP into Euros in one go?

I have purchased Euros with Sterling at the exchange office about a mile from the Famagusta crossing (Trust).

John Msg 1 - Be careful if you are taking it out of North Cyprus as in cash you are only allowed up to 10,000 USD or any equivalent on any one journey.

Depending on who you bank with (TRNC/UK) maybe best to let them know and help you with a direct transfer and you might also negotaite commercial rates of exchange
