President Dervis Eroglu has given a message of solidarity and friendship during an interview he took part in while in Istanbul.

President Derviş Eroğlu who officially started his contacts today took part in a program that was broadcast live on Turkey’s TRT channel. President Dervis Eroglu answered questions regarding the recent events that have taken place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Referring to the protest action that led to tensions between the TRNC and Turkey, President Eroglu said there may be disagreements between the two countries but Turkey was an inevitable part of the TRNC and vice versa.

Referring to the austerity measures taken by the government, President Eroglu said precautionary measures were necessary in order to overcome the economic problems being experienced in the country.

Referring to the Cyprus negotiations process, the President talked about the Greek Cypriot sides delaying stance at the Cyprus talks and added that the Turkish side is working hard towards finding an acceptable solution to the Cyprus problem.

Tonight the President will attend an event organized by Turkey’s Economy Reporters’ Association. He is also expected to make a speech during the event.

Tomorrow the President will give a conference on the Cyprus issue at Beykent University in Istanbul.

Presidential Undersecretary Hasan Güngör and Private Secretary Göktürk Ötüken are accompanying the President during his visit to Turkey.
