we will soon have to empty our pool for essential work to be carried out on it. can anybody suggest what we can do with the water, it seem such a crime just pouring it all away!

Donate it to neighbours, or,don't add any chlorine for a week or so, maybe longer allow the sun to burn off the chlorine already in there, and flood your garden with it every day for a week (or two if you are in no big hurry) emptying a few tons daily, the plant will love it, and it will be back into 'the ecosystem'

Don't flood so much though that it soaks under the house.
