Hi

Can anyone tell me what the cost of a new pump would be for a swimming pool (8x4) and also the cost of repairing the trough of an overflow pool.

Had our pump repaired 6 months ago and on the blink again we are told and also the trough we had repaired started leaking again after 6 months so need someone that can do a proper job!

Coating a trough with 2 coats of epoxy sealant costs 11 pounds per metre.

"2 coats of epoxy sealant costs 11 pounds per metre"

Blimey, I'd want gold plate for that...

So an 8x4 pool trough total length with roman end works out at 28 metres so £308 pounds, seems rather steep to me

You may be able to get the pump repaired. I did last month at a cost of 250 lira for a pool about the same size

Vaughan, the repair is being carried out by the guy who cleans our pool. Trustworthy guy, he has said a couple of days work. It has to be done but I get your point, he will get my foot where the sun don't shine if tries ripping me off!!

Properly built pools should have UPVC liners in the overflow channels but then again this is the TRNC where "NOTHING" is done properly..

martinD41: Unfortunately UPVC liners don't last very long in Cyprus, despite the 'warranty' that is supposed to come with them.

There are some 'Weber' coatings that simply brush/roller on - available @ Marshalls.

In 2004 our pool trough with mesh and specialised cement leaked from the first day used and after further cementing continued to leak. Since that time at the end of March/early April each year I have used a rubberised paint product such as suggested by Tenakoutou and there have been no leaks or repairs since. To clean the gulleys (10 x 5 m) and apply two coats of paint aggregates to perhaps 4 hours work (for the Wildebeest, bless her !) with paint costing approx 50 lira. Worth a try as only £20 at risk.
