Finally in the TRNC the 1st outdoor Flat Green Bowlng facility.

In March 2009 Blue and I came to the TRNC from Paphos only to discover that there were no bowling greens. Being bowlers we decided to do something about it. We started talking to as many people as we could to see what interest there was. The feedback was very positive and we were encouraged to carry on with our idea. We decided that in order to reach a greater audience we should post a thread here in the forum. What a great response we got. We spoke to various investors/hotels but it seemed no one else had any money. Then in March 2010 we were approached by Martin Monks-Appleton who was interesed in joining with us. It has been at times a testing journey to get where we are now but work on the plot in Lapta begins in March with an estimated completion date of 15th June. Well done to the two families - Martin and Anne, and sister Louise and John in getting your business off the ground, I know you have invested a considerable amount of money, and time, including trips between the TRNC and the UK and all the frustrations that you must have encountered along the way. We look forward to your opening and wish you every success. We will certainly be bowling once you are up and running.

When do you expect to be up and running?

I asked on a previous thread re costs as I have friends coming who ' live by their bowls' and they are looking forward to a game or 5.

Was the picture in last Saturdays paper showing ' the ground breaking' ceremony?

Deniz 1 I have a fair idea who it might have been - however they are not friends of mine or Blue's and they should not have been discussing this issue with anyone, never-mind in a public place. The comment got me into a lot of trouble as I was accused wrongly of talking about this issue in public. I know you probably meant it as a harmless comment but there you go, it led to another party making incorrect assumptions about me.

Guys the build has started and opening date is now APROX Julyish as per the piece in the Cyprus Today newspaper and aye Scoty the picture could be considered the "ground breaking" ceremony.

My sincere apologies if my comment caused you any problems it was not meant too. I wish you every success. I have friends who are avid bowlers in the uk and they are looking forward to playing when they come here again. They have asked me to give them progress reports.
