My daughter is flying into Larnaca and hiring a car from the airport. The flight is late evening/early morning. What is the procedure at the border to cross over to the north in a south hire car. What documents/cost will she need? Will the necessary office/booth be open? Thank you

She should make sure that the Southern car hire company allows its customers to take car to North. They usually do but I know there are some that have got a problem with it. Be aware that the insurance she buys at he borders is only third party liability. None of the Southern car hire companies provide fully comp coverage in North!

We haven't had any problems (recommend Andy's Motors) the Aghios Demetrios (sp?) crossing is opening to purchase insurance really late. However, the insurance booth at Pyle crossing closes at 5pm to purchase insurance. Got info during trip ending 24th Feb 2011

Why not approach Cyprus-Car.com who specialise in cars which can be brought over north. The partners are two Cypriots, one a TC and the other a GC. Why not send an e mail and see if they can help. Send to info@cyprus-car.com. ~That way, the bulk of the problem is taken off you. Good luck
