Like most old farts I am not to clever when it comes to my computer, so when it needed a minor repair I took it to the experts?? COMAKS next door to Mr Pound. Back up my data and reformat with Windows 7 was the diagnosis. Collect following day...not ready...following day paid 60TL..everything in Turkish. Took it back...OOOPs so sorry, fixed..still in Turkish. Took it back..OOOPs sorted now English. Still Turkish. Took it back, now in English in parts but all my downloaded movies and music have gone. OOOPs sorry. Reverted to Turkish keyboard again. Took it back only to discover that no backup was made for my Arriva TV package. Thats another 50TL. Still Turkish. Took it back to load XP in English. If it does not work we will refund your 60TL. Keyboard in Turkish, switches itself off, does not allow me to download photos from camera, nor recognize external hard drive. Took it back for my promised refund. No refunds but leave your computer and we will try again . NO CHANCE!

Why didn't you ask (or did I miss your message?) here first? 1 : Was the "minor repair" really necessary and was it necessary to bring your computer to a shop? 2 : Every slightly more than you experienced computer user should be able to tell you in a few words how to choose the language (English in your case) you see on your screen (and print etc). It's a built-in option of every modern Operating System (the software on your hard disk that controls what happens - or not...).

▶ Buy a second hard drive (they are very cheap nowadays!) and BACK-UP the content on your computer's hard drive regularly. The software I (a heavy user) use will back-up what I've done every hour - I will never lose more than one hour of my work. Most people will be fine with a daily or even weekly back-up. Because and please don't forget: disaster will strike one day, EVERY hard drive will meet its Waterloo and usually unexpectedly! BACK-UP! BACK-UP!

THEN THEY ONLY WANT TO EMPLOY TC MONKEYS INSTEAD OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS WITH genuine qualifications not TRNC UNI MICKY MOUSE QUALIFICATIONS.

Well, sorry to be negative, but I've used Comaks in Girne a number of times and have found them great to deal with, helpful, friendly and spot on with my computer troubles.

I can also say the same of Laconic, and would recommend either.

And I am most definitely computer illiterate.

If you had problems Mr Vince, you ought to try PC World and the likes back in the UK. I went back before Christmas and wanted mobile broadband. Oh my goodness, spotty oiks trying to get me on contract despite me telling them I lived abroad and wanted a use and discard dongle.

The service was not geared to what I wanted, more to what they wanted to sell. But at least that was better than the staff in Comet. One was too busy picking his nose while playing with the latest Blu Ray video to even notice customers.

I'm with AnthonySmith - although I am quite good with computers I have used Com-Aks several times for more complicated things including complete recovery from a disc crash. I have always been very satisfied.

After having problems with a couple of places I took my pc to, which I posted on here.....I took it to Washerman.....(Gwyn), who did a fantastic job......got my XP back, which is not a pirated copy of windows 7, as had been loaded by the other places I took it to. PC is now as it was before I took it to the cowboys......can highly recommend Washerman.
