Consider having a session at a Turkish bath to clear out any clogged pores... I have heard that this works wonders... never suffered myself but I know folk who have.

Suncream can exacerbate the problems by clogging the pores of the skin so I hardly think SF 125 (which is akin to a bandage) would help.

It'll be different when your living 'it' all the time, you've probably suffered before through "panic tanning" a week here,2 weeks there. just take it easy I'm sure you'll be fine.

Wear pure cotton, nothing synthetic. Do not apply suncreams, and shower as much as possible. You could try Eurax lotion, available from most chemists here.

I have suffered prickly heat in the past and on my first visit to Cyprus which was end of March/beginning of April time. I found the cure by accident, I was staying at the Acapulco Hotel and my daughter won a 'Peel' treatment in the hotel's Turkish Bath. The treatment basically cleans out the pores and the prickly heat problem disappeared. I've lived here for over 5 years and have never suffered again. I use Ambre Solaire Clear Protect 30 which is a 'light' spray when it's hot and avoid sitting in direct sun as much as possible. Good luck

thanks everyone. The turkish bath seems to be the way to try at least. We have been over in the hot weather before so we know what to expect but just trying to keep the irritation down to a minimum!!!

i used to suffer badly from prickly heat when on annual holidays but since moving here 5 years ago it has disappeared. Cuticura talc ( not available here) applied after a cool shower helped

I get prickly heat very bad myself and I went to my gp 2 years ago around april when we got our Indian summer she was that impressed with the amount of blisters on me neck and ears she wanted to use me as her case study.anyway she gave me DELTACORTRIL ENT 5MG which I had to take 6 for 3 days then 5 for 3days and so on down to one a day as well as a steroid cream to rub on the blisters the tablets took about 3 days to kick in and I never got it again that year and I was in trnc and spain now last year I got the tablets when I just started to break out and had great results again hope this helps

I have suffered for years and used to get tablets from Spain but they stopped making them. I now use Piz Baun (sorry about spelling) allergenic sun lotion and avon so soft at night which has the added bonus of protecting from bites. Still get a bit of rash but not as itchy!! Brend

My friend used some bath scrub a few weeks before her hols and this seems to help. This reflects the blocked pores mentioned by Groucho message 2. I use a hand full of salt and put some gentle shower soap into your hand aswell. Use gentle rubbing onto legs / back. You need to rinse it off after about 5 seconds as the salt starts to sting. The salt exfoliates. Play it safe and get your skin condition looked at by a doctor.

Use sugar instead of salt in a rub it doesnt dry the skin like salt does.

Both my son & I suffered prickly heat every time we went into the sun until we discovered Parasol Suncream. It's made by Irish skincare specifically for Celtic skin types, it's like applying water to your skin hence no greasy blockages. You only need to apply once a day and it allows you to tan in fact we both now get the best tans we have ever had. I have recommended it to many people and everyone says they will never use anything else. I buy from the Internet @ irishskincare.com You should take anti-histamine everyday in order to avoid the itchy rash if it does break out. You are so lucky to be moving out there GoodLuck hope everything goes well !!

I must agree with Groucho,When I worked in Kenya,I was told by my GP to take a series of Sauna's before I flew out...In his words to "Unblock and Exercise the sweat glands" prickly heat is not just uncomfortable it can put your body into Thermal Shock be careful

It is caused by blocked pores so sun cream then any kind of skin cream can make it worse. I suffered badly untill a chemist gave me cream used for thrush!!! After a shower at night, wait about 1 hr to give your pores time to breath then apply! It worked for me and have never had it since. I also know people who when they swim in the sea, gentle scrub with mixed water and sand and never get it. Lots of answers but you will find the one that suits you.
