Hi all

Has anyone tried satellite internet, there are several companies in the UK that offer this service

There seems to be a lot of unhappy customers with the ISP service from local companies

Yes you can but you have to a get a 2 way satellite system sent out to NC from the Uk

Emailed iceman and he said he can fit these systems, but I have no idea if they are any good, hopefully someone will enlighten us

Two way sat internet works GREAT.. I've been fitting 2 way sat internet solutions for 14 years

BUT.. the cost is normally what makes folks unhappy ( low limits on usage)

If you can get wired / wireless solution that is reliable it is more cost effective.

You'd get c. 3.6 Mbps download and 384 kbps upload but it IS reliable .. the cost depends on your usage requirements

2.4Gig allowance 24.99, 4 Gig 34.99, 6 gig 54.99, and 12 gig 99.99 GBP / monthly

Ironically, using Slingbox uses LESS bandwidth than iplayer - if viewing on a PC and not requiring HD..

Given up with that idea, spoke to a company last week about slingbox and he said it just wouldn’t work on fair usage :-(

THAT depends on the package/ TV watching ... but Yup.. I'd say SAT internet for watching TV could be an expensive luxury :(

Last time I checked, satellite internet in TRNC is illegal ! All internet connections must go through KKTC.

Last time I checked 'TRNC' was 'legally invalid' and yet I know of two institutions using two-way sat internet - having checked - for 3.5 years........

just heard from one of our suppliers that their will be a new service announced in MAY.. On the top package you'll get 25 gig for 99.99GBP and 10 Mbits down and 4 Mbits up..

That's SERIOUS money but who'd use THAT up and it would would a treat on iplayer or even better on a slingbox..
