Hi Chessman I just read this. i too thought it was very interesting. As per one of my previous posts I thought Cyprus operated largely by 'who people know'. This seems to be changing. Cyprus might be growing up. Also interesting that both Greece and Turkey were placed below Cyprus. As usual the good guys are the Scandinavians especially the Danes. The world can learn so much from these people (although the Finns are having a few probs at the moment)

Hi ILC I agree with your comments. Yes, the World can and should learn from the Scandanavians. However, I suspect too much arrogance, hate and greed prevents it. What I found fascinating was that my perception of certain countries was not accurate. For example, I assumed that Colombia would be in the lower quartile. Perception is not always reality, I guess.

I know what you mean Chessman. I would have put Columbia much lower. In fact, they have been lower in more recent years. Just shows how things can change. I see India is way down there again.

wow, it's a long time since I took my driving test. i am a little out of touch. I think I used to pay £5 for an hours lesson. I guess now it would be £20 per hour in the UK. Perhaps the price would be £15 in the TRNC. I guess you are going to tell me there is one price for TC's and one for Brits

£700 pound sterling. My gggggoooooddddd. That's unbelievable. You can't pass a test with two hours of lessons, not unless you are Lewis Hamilton perhaps.

just my opinion... If my daughter was on the road, and didnt feel she passed or was road worthy, i would still be sending her for lessons....why did you let her pay the £700 "fast track" in the first place? at the end of the day, its her own life thats at stake here, ...and everyone elses on the road! How would you feel with yourself if one night you get that dreaded phone call....knowing full well she isnt road worthy? This also applies to other issues, when it comes to cutting corners, yes it can make life easier...paying someone to get to the top of the queue in the council etc...but when/if it back fires....be ready to take full responsbility for your own actions. You knew EXACTLY what you was doing when you was 'crossing their palm with gold'. Just because the laws can be broken so easily is doesnt mean it should be done to readily. Repro. p.s. id just like to add, this isnt just a Cyprus problem, this happens all over the world...including the UK!
