Acccording to BRT, the strikes at the courts and the Kimlik Office have been suspended by the Council of Ministers. I think the normal legal suspension lasts 3 months. So that will take the courts into the summer recess. I expect business to be back to normal at these places bar the chaos of postponed files that have to be dealt with. ismet

I heard on the news that the suspension is actually for 60 days. The unions will announce by 9 am tommow morning whether they will observe the ban or not. I bet they do not have the guts to say they will ignore the ban. ismet

I heard on the news this morning that the unions have suspended all industrial actions i.e. like no overtime at customs etc. At last it dawned on them that they cannot get anywhere with such action. At least they realized that its better to be inside and do sod all rather than sit outside and do nothing. The courts are all in real mess and do not expect any trials, hearings etc apart from routine works. For example in Famagusta Court today the judges will handle files dated today and 8th February. On Monday it will be 14th March and 9th February etc. Hopefully it will get back to normal during the summer recess which begins end of June to 15th September. ismet

Well this might be the small glimmer of light at the end of a VERY long tunnel, but already had my case postponed twice and no doubt it will be delayed yet again until they have a five month summer holiday or whatever. How can a country operate when no one seems to do any work or even give a damn that they look stupid? I've never been so furious with a place as i have with that half of the island...

Ismet, do you think courts will be doing mundane business like registering wills in Magusa?
