| just had an email advertising Cyprus as a wonderful holiday destination. For stays that do not exceed three months, European citizens must show an identity card or a passport valid for three months after their date of entry in the country. Since 1974, the Cypriot government forbids entry to tourists arriving from the northern zone, occupied by the Turks. Famagouste, Karavostassi, and Kyrenia are listed as "illegal ports of entry", as well as Ercan airport. Your passport must not have a stamp from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The Cypriot government does not authorise tourists to spend more than one day (from 9.00am to 5.00pm) in the occupied part of the island. It is a little short to enjoy the northern region, but it is doable for the main sites, Kyrenia and Famagouste. http://www.easyvoyage.co.uk/cyprus/tips#language |

| The information is more about the south side where they speak Modern Greek even though when there I was pleased to see a Fascinating Turkey advert flashing up. The web site might not be aimed at Europeans (with EU passports) as technically they are not the ones that are now restricted but other passport holders could still have problems. |
