re msg 1 coggies:

You would be attempting to take your dog from one part of a country - where the govt and the EU don't have effective control to the part where they do..

The part where it does has to comply with EU legislation .. If your dog enters via a recognised port of entry - with the correct pet passport / papers / chipped , etc, it would be 'allowed in' having been inspected by a vet ..

MartinD41

You aren't advising coggies with facts as the EU /UN ... see things...

http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/turkish_cypriot_community/index_en.htm

The whole of the island is in the EU. However, in the northern part of the island, in the areas in which the Government of Cyprus does not exercise effective control, EU legislation is suspended in line with Protocol 10 of the Accession Treaty 2003.

Have we not heard all this before? I think so... Don't you ever tire of scoring this pyrrhic victory?

Simone Msg 1 - In either direction it can be fraught (maybe a lot worse) and not something that can easily or sensibly be discussed on an open forum. It might not be possible within your parameters.

You would need to be far more specific as to direction etc and where your pet is travelling from etc etc.

There might be some advice available from KAR or us at IAH but off board.

re 4

I am responding to the post of MartinD41 - As he was advising ( incorrectly) of EU rules ..

To be 'pyrrhic' it would have to be a 'victory' at great cost ... ;)

MartinD41 - there was nothing vague in your response - nor mine ;)

The great cost is boring everyone with the same stock answer every time someone mentions the border... give it a rest.

See you are still at it!

I was noting that you can't help but try and score a point every time 'someone' mentions the border... I know you don't regard it as a border, in fact I'm pretty sure we all know this of you...

The GC's although they would have us believe it too, still bother to check passports, cars and goods being carried etc... so when is a crossing a crossing and not a border... no don't answer that - please!

Dear Groucho...

Again.. I didn't mention the word.. YOU did.. ! ;)

You forget ...The 'rump' RoC - if they had THEIR way - wouldn't let folk cross from N-S...[ unless they first enter via a 'recognised port' :(

It is the EU that made 'em allow EU citizens to cross - it is the first place that EU customs / immigration checks can be made...

Rowlo, how dare you accuse my fascist cousins south of the border as dogs? They may be dogs but they are our dogs and in any case they are toothless. The worst they can do to you is lick you to death. Especially the converts from UK.

Yorgo, is that with your dog or without?

If you take any turkish psudo-dogs south of the border, you just have to put it in speech marks like " dog", and they will be fine.

Dear YFred,

haven't you got any left of centre or 'commie' cousins south of the green-line...?!

I don't know if you're heard but the current 'top dog' doesn't obey 'instructions' from fascists.. he was 'trained' in Moscow ;)

6Ms, just remind me when were the Russians "commie" again. I was under the impression that they stopped that just after Lenin died, or did I dream that one.

As to the old yero "commie" Muhtaro south of the border, he lost that title when he joined with TPapa and formed the governement.

You can bring your dog South to North, but not North to South.

Six Ms

I never said you did, it was the original thread title that brought it up. My point was that you can never, ever let a question regarding the border go by without need to mention your fascinating facts on the EU and all that stuff... It just gets a bit boring when we have to get past all that nonsense every single time to answer the question posed... don't suppose you'll stop though. :(
