I know it's been going for a few weeks now so it's not quite so new anymore, but for those looking for something to do of a day, why don't you pop along for a look, to give some support to those stallholders attempting to get a market up and running for us. You'd complain if there was nothing to do and nowhere to go apart from the main Girne market. This one is different to the central market - no fruit and veg (yet!) but there is lots of home cooked food on offer.

I was there today and felt a little sorry for the few committed stallholders there who are trying hard to keep it going. A few more stalls are needed to get it looking more like a proper market and to give them the incentive and motivation to keep turning up, it needs the customers to keep persevering too (chicken and egg?).

I for one like to have a wander around all the markets on offer - not just for the bargains but for a good old natter and some fresh air - I'd hate to see it die a death.

Hi all, I hope the 'no response' isn't indicative of the support that's likely to be forthcoming for this market.

I heard today at Lambousa of a few people planning to go with stalls on Wednesday so hopefully this will start to look like a healthy 'proper' market soon and attract the customers it needs.

Has the curry man stopped going as well? Went on Wednesday but no curry and it was such a good curry the last time I went there I was very sad to see he had not turned up.

The curry was from #Al Shaheen in Karakum. The sunday market at Soyz was busy today despite the rain.

Let's hope those supporting the market today will be inclined to do so next Wednesday too!

Hope it was a successful day for those of you who braved the weather today.

Sorry Lillie, I didn't realise you were at the market last week. Let me know next time you'll be at one of them and I'll make myself known. Pip.
