Anyone ever driven from the UK? Quite fancy taking a 4 week outage next year, taking a week to drive down, then two weeks on the island then a week to get back? Driving is part of my profession, so taking on long distance in a big car isn't a problem, just wondered if there were any "issues" that could hit me.

Hi Factfinder,

According to your profile back in good old 92 you must have been about 11 years old!!! Just as well you didn't require to show your passport or for that matter your driving licence to anyone.

Sounds like it could be a fun trip then!

My only concern is if something goes bang, as above then repatriating the car, even with insurance etc. I am not sure the cover would extend to carting a large car back to the UK from TRNC lol!

I did a few mountain passes into Northern Italy in the mid to late 80's on a scooter so blatting down in a big engined car should be a doddle lol!

hi

there are a few options you can consider but maybe the simple route would be to drive down to italy then get the boat over to turkey then drive to mersin and get the boat over to famagusta that way you see most of the south of turkey very nice drive but make sure you got international insurance because the drivers and some roads in turkey are dangerous good luck!!!
