Terrible road. Head toward Magosa and take one of the roads over the mountain. Probably take longer than via Girne

We always go over the mountains, takes approximately 20 - 25 minutes from Ercan to Esentepe much quicker than going via Girne. Ok its got a lot of bends in and you spend most of your time in 1st or 2nd gear but you rarely meet anything and the views are superb.



Its easy to find. Head towards Lefkosa turn right just past the speed camera (signposted Girne). Follow road as though you are heading into the mountains and just after the quarry there is a right turn marked Esentepe. Follow this road through the Military base and keep going. You'll come to a fork in the road and take the righthand fork. Road is tarmac for 99% of the way.



Or failing that follow instructions as before but don't turn right at the sign marked Esentepe. Keep going through the mountains as though you are heading to Girne. You will eventually see a sign for Tatlisu/Esentepe turn right here and follow the road. It takes longer but both routes are much quicker than going through Girne.

Oh yes one other important bit to add to the directions of going over the mountain direct to Esentepe. needs to be added after "Road is tarmac for 99% of the way" Just after you reach the top you will come to the picnic area and another fork. It used to be signposted one to Girne the other to Esentepe but I think it fell down a couple of years ago. You need to turn right and just keep going. You can't get lost, honest and it'll take you straight into the village and as you know once there all roads lead to the centre of the village.
