"The Turkey-Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) underwater potable water pipeline is about to be completed.

The majority of the water pipeline carrying potable water from Anamur Dragon River in Turkey to the TRNC has been erected.

Once operational, the potable water pipeline would carry 75 million cubic meters of water from Turkey to the TRNC.

15 million cubic meters out of this total amount would be for consumption while the rest 60 million cubic meters would be used in irrigation.

The underwater potable water pipeline connecting Turkey to the TRNC would be completed by June 14th, 2009.

The water coming from Turkey would be stored in a dam to be constructed near Girne, TRNC"

Don't know about you, but the use of the word 'would' instead of 'will' makes me a bit sceptical! But we can hope....

Though by no means an expert I have some experience of off-shore construction, anchor-handling and pipe-laying.

To set a completion date some 10 months away for any such project is very optimistic. Too, that it's over the winter season, when at least 40% of the steaming time will be spent in port through bad-weather, makes this look way off.

What's interesting is that this article says the majority of the work has been carried out. I recall that a land-to-tanker station was completed in Turkey some years ago. Anyone have any harder facts on the status of the tender and the pumping stations?

This has been answered elsewhere. It is a misquote.

It should read that the assesment of work required etc will be completed next June. The target is still 2012 for completion of work.
