Why would anyone sell Sterling for 2.47TL, when the exchange rate is currently above 2.57TL?

One of the few things which are not a rip off in TRNC are the currency exchange shops. They only ever give a couple of 'points' up or down from the 'mid-rate' depending on whether buy or selling. They will also directly exchange between €, $ and £ without going into TL. Don't use the banks as their rates are never as good as the shops and will go into TL for third party transactions.
