Watch out tomorrow TRNC & Turkey are not moving the clocks forward until 3am Monday morning, so we will only be 1 HOUR ahead of the UK on Sunday. This is because students are sitting their Transition to Higher Education exam and they do not want the students' chances to effected by the time change.

From Air Travel this weekend 26/27 March 2011 and time changes Please go to message 122 on http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/39106.asp This applies to anyone who is flying or may be meeting someone who is flying this weekend - If unsure if it will affect you CALL your airline and be safe as even insurance will not cover your not being informed and missing a flight. This is complex as you will see if you go the Pegasus notification sent to agents and if flying check with your airline Tom info@flightholiday.co.uk

Students will be sitting the YGS exam (part of the university entrance exam) on Sunday 27 March this year. Therefore the clocks will be moved forward on the Sunday/Monday night in Turkey and TRNC. (Too bad for those who have to get up at 6am to go to work on Monday morning!!)

Exactly! And if you are flying from Larnaca and think this is a joke, then your plane will have gone without you!! It will be bedlam tomorrow. It is absolutely ridiculous. Why couldn't they just have moved the exam from 9am to 11am?? Thank god I don't have to get up at 6am (will be 5am) to go to work on Monday morning. It's my day off!

To the point - for flights etc the flying times may well be different so take no chances Remember from Msg 1 - TRNC & Turkey are not moving the clocks forward until 3am Monday morning, so we will only be 1 HOUR ahead of the UK on Sunday. From Msg 5 maybe look in at http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/59142.asp and it's link to the flights thread

Exams are usually planned up to a year ahead, granted the person setting the exams should have a list of issues that may cause problems. However, in my experience, the only things that can be allowed to affect a move of exam time and/or date can be relgious holidays and festivals, too many students with exam clashes when others are happening at the same time, or closer to the time of the exam, a disaster!

Yes Liili. I've arranged to meet friends at the Metahan crossing point at 1130 am. I'll have to be there at 1030, so they will have an extra hour in the TRNC as they are visiting for the day only!!! LOL

Any one flying out Check the flight times correspond with the change of hour. I missed a flight last year from Alex to Dubai with Emirates scheduled departure said 14.15 only to find check-in closed. Around 50 people missed the flight. Our ticket said dept 14.15 the airline forgot to take in the 1 hr. change. Worked out well in the end, got an extra days hol. and Emirates compensated with a free business class flight anywhere.

The odd thing is/was that my computer clock, set to Istanbul time, reset itself to summer saving early this morning. Did Turkey forget to inform Microsoft? As to the excuse it was for students to sit a Sunday exam is beyond belief. How does an extra or lost hour going to improve their results after years of study? There's something sinister afoot! It must be 'No Time Toulouse' and leave for France! Richard

If there wasn't enough stupid people in this world, there'd be no need to change the time at all. It has been done this way to stop confusion to 1000.000+ students that are taking the test. It seems that common sense is not so common here!!

God help us all if the Turkish kids here and mainland are not capable of adjusting to a one hour time difference. Financial whiz kids/Turkish leaders’ and future entrepreneurs this is what the youth of today could be. But they cannot sort out spring forward one hour........... errrrrrrrrrrrr
