Who thinks members or in fact anyone should be able to complain about a business in the north, Using this forum. Or is this forum a vehicle for a selected few to be able to say what they like.

I think all members should be allowed to make genuine complaints - However I feel that the member should be prepared to talk to the subject of the complaint first in order that this may be resolved before posting on this forum. Too many complaints on this site appear to be from someone with an axe to grind and not totally genuine.

But why complain on this forum, the members here can't do anything about it. Surely the best person to discuss any complaint with is the owner of the place, then if they don't try to rectify things it might be worth putting it on here just to warn others. Too often though a business can be ruined, by remarks made on here ,without them being given the opportunity to put matters right.

hattikins As ever the voice of reason. suzyr When has anyone been denied the right to criticize any business/restaurant on here. The problem arises when it maybe obvious that the complainant has a score to settle and then they should be aware of the flack that they are going to take and due to the resultant posts the thread will be stopped. Please give me some examples to justify your concerns. philbailey I have replied to your postings in the past and you have not replied, If you want to criticize then at least have the decency to enter into debate rather than 'post and run'

You must admit that many a fair question has been asked on this forum and has been ridiculed by senior members , because the posting was close to home for a lot of you. You have closed rank and ganged up on a persons meal that she complain about . Get real people Pity you don't put this power of yours together and run the builders out of town

RE msg 8, AJ: (...) When has anyone been denied the right to criticize any business/restaurant on here. (...) ▶ That's exactly the problem. To follow-up Hattkin's correct message #7: A rule on C44 should be: critize or complain - but ALWAYS include the reply of the man/woman who is critisized or complained about in the first post.

I maintain my previous view point that I should be made a 'Mod' as I would close every posting as they significantly get a higher review than when open for debate! Richard

philbailey 'Msg 8 I thought the rules were to discuss any issues with mods via e-mail ?' I have no recollection of you wanting to discuss anything with me whether it is by e-mail or on the board. I may be wrong and if so please remind me.

Of course members should be allowed to complain about bad service on here... But equally it's nice to see posts where the service has been good. I will always try a restaurant that has been recommended (it was how we found The Hut 15 years ago) and avoid one that has poor service or food. My money is too hard earned to be wasted. It's also sometimes useful for the offending restaurant, garage, shop etc to read these posts to make them aware of what people think, enabling them the opportunity to put things right!

Easy just DO NOT GO BACK...I do not think posting on here helps as most members always state that they give most places a try a few times then make their own minds up. Spider,X

message 17 re my message 8 What are you on? Let me know where you buy it and see if you can get me a discount. I think you are trying to bait me suzyr. You started the thread, you have been allowed to post your complaints so what is your problem. You come across on the board as one angry person.

I feel that anyone making a complaint should only be allowed to voice it , if they are doing so under their own genuine ID. If it is under false ID and the people are not known then it should not be allowed on. It is to easy for someone to come on to the forum and slander a business, (or person ) If you are genuine in your complaint , then have the B---s to front it. Also it should be done in a reasonable and polite manner.
