Went out today for a quiet lunch,oh No, out of the shadows he appears without warning, flowered shirt and trademark hat, camera in hand, is there anywhere we can go to avoid Nick from the, Yes Folks, your very own No1 *Newspaper* as they never fail to let us know.

I have to admit I find it all very irritating, not only the constant self praise but the unnecessary slagging off of Cyprus Today, almost every article has a go at the rival paper and lets face it, neither of them are The Times are they, news here is very limited so they can only do their best.

If The Star is so confident that it is the best then can they just sit back and bask in the glory, please don't keep ramming it down our throats.

Anyway, rant over for now, besides winter is almost over so I won't need to buy this paper to light my fire with.

I don't rate the Star at all. It is full of pictures of ex pats in pubs, which is why people buy it, to see their own pictures, and surprise, surprise, it is always the same people. If you read the Star this week and it was the only paper you read, you wouldn't know there was an important High Court case concerning ex pats, because they never bothered to cover it. It reminds me of the Daily Star and is about as tasteful. Debbie wih her 38FF's will be next.

At least the Cyprus Today does carry some news. The pathetic article by Nick as you say hattikins was patheitic and childish and slagging off a newspaper you used to work for NIck, its really bad form and somewhat childish. HOw come I know what is in it this week, I bought it hoping to read coverage of the K5 case....not news worthy it would seem.

So basically we seem to be saying it's c&*p!

I concur.

Why is it always the same people?

Surely no-one knows in advance where the camera chappie is going to be?

I have to say I thought that when I bought both papers today. The Star is all full of expats in bars. As I don't go to bars as I don't like that scene, I also don't want to read or see it in the papers. 1 or 2 pages in the leisure section ok, but I know which one I will be buying from now on.

RE msg 6, newscoop: (...) So basically we seem to be saying it's c&*p! I concur. (...)

▶ Newscoop, a couple of years ago I introduced a blank Brit to local journalism, but I obviously forgot one lesson: professional writers (journalists) for sure and even wanabees stay out of some discussions and certainly don't call other media "crap" - professionals try to be faster and better with the news. It's a universal value. Silly comments are the prerogative of silly readers.

As both a silly reader and the alter ego of a crap blogger - I think its a load of tosh but probably harmless . My 2 lira will still go to the Cyprus Today but only once a week, I have to say on the occasions I dont bother, Malcolm's review of CT on NCFP covers most of the interesting news..
