I have just returned to TRNC after being in the UK for four months, when I put my Laptop on it had lost the time and date and had to be reset, but now I have noticed that it is not charging and will only work if it is conected to the mains.

Any ideas what could be wrong, is it the charger, or the in built battery in the laptop and can I get it fixed here,

I would appreciate any help as I will not be returning to the UK for a few months and would like to use the laptop without being connested to the mains all the time.

Thank you.

I'd go along with message 2.

I'd use it on the mains and then when you are back in the UK get a new battery on Ebay, or you could get a friend to do that and bring it to TRNC for you.

You have a dead battery. You should have fully charged the battery and then removed it from the laptop whilst not using it for so long. Buy a replacment one on e-bay next time you are in the U.K.

I have checked on e-bay and can get a battery but even though I have put the laptop details in corrrectly there seems to be two or three different voltage types, How easy is it to take the battery out myself? I would like to be sure of what i am ordering first or should I take the laptop to someone who knows what they are doing,

Would appreciate any advice,

the battery just clips out

no screws or anything

some people have 2 batteries that they change daily

on it you will find the details

if not ,check the transformer the voltage should be on it

(black box on the charger) no offence

Hi Philbailley,

Thanks for the advice, have unclipped the battery and taken all the details but after clipping it back in it now appears to be charging. Not sure why but will see how long the charge lasts and take it from there.

Thanks again.
