I have lived in Saudi for 4 years. If you think Gaddafi is bad, Libya is mild in comparison.

One day Saudi will blow & the outcome will be massive. The ultimate in brutal repressive regimes where the House of Saud hide behind a religious cloak to retain absolute brutal power. Al Qaeda was given birth there for those very reasons. Hatred amongst the Saudis of the Saudi Royals & their alliance with the US & bush family in particular.

Lest's hope the "Arab Spring" will continue for months & years to come since it will be the ideal way to bring peace to this fine but troubled region. Give people freedom & terrorism will fade away....FOR SURE. All the Arab people deserve nothing less

I have lived in the Middle East for 20 years and have been privileged to work in a number of different gulf states and have many Arab friends.

I agree with most of what you say however if you believe terrorism will fade away as a result of the 'Arab Spring' I think your spectacles must be of the rose tinted variety! Until the populace fully understand that 'freedom' and 'democracy' impose not only rights but also obligations there will be no true peace. At present their belief is that all the demands and expectations of all the people will be achieved through 'freedom and democracy'. When the first flush of 'spring' has passed and they discover it is impossible to please all of the people, all of the time, the unrest will return, the most powerful will exercise their muscle and the formerly oppressed will once again become oppressed, but with different oppressors.

Just my threepen'th worth! I'll get off my soap box now!
