What an excellent idea, well done, and so pleased it is not another excuse for you to make money.

A wonderful gesture seeing that it is not for profit, you could donate the takings that night to our own British Forces charity 'Help for Heroes'

Yorgozlu-'Help for Heroes' a charity that helps wounded and disabled servicemen mainly as a result but not exclusively in Afganistan.

It provides some support that our uncaring British government doesent.

Mind you we are still waiting for a confirmation from Force 9

'HEROES' are the ones that lost their lives fighting for their country,in their country!

dearie,re 7;

Tell me what right one has, regardless of their position (ie.gorernment)to send other ones kids to another country, where it is 'nothing' to do with them.............and get them killed..........for what?

For me those are selfishly wasted lives.

My deepest sympathy to the families of those and I wish them all the patience in the world.I know what I'd do if it was my son.

YES, PLEASE! Time???? Would love to pop up for some pics. But of course they are not going to war, are they, merely leaving Ma and Ma and the family bosom to learn how to be big boys. that's what menfolk of my husbabnd's generation had to do. But it is a great shock to their systems and i would love to shake their hands and wish them well. so please - TIME?

We may not always agree with the stand of our government or their foreign policy but we do stand behind our soldiers.

As regards your definition of heroes 'die in another country' I wonder what the answer you would have given to the parents of the troops lost in the execution of the peace intervention.

As regards Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan I have mixed feelings, justifiable, maybe, but to withdraw now before terrorism is defeated would make a mockery out of the men and women who have already laid down their lives.

An emotive subject but sometimes there comes a point where you have to stand up and be counted and Britain is doing just that.

A little off the topic but i feel your statement needs answering.

I see we have had no answer to my suggestion that seeing it isn't a money making event (their own words) that any profit should be given to charity.

I don't usually contribute to these debates, but this is an exception.

I joined the WRAF when I was seventeen years old, for reasons of my own.

It was a very scary experience for me. I hadn't even been on a train, let alone travel half

the country on one....on my own.

As for the Park donating all their profit to 'help the heroes', who is going to pay their rent,

etc.?

How do you know that they haven't already contributed to this fund?or continue to do so?

I think it's a very good idea, and certainly very good for the relationship between the locals and

expats.

Please give the boys my good wishes, if we are unable to attend.

Yorgozlu - I don't wish to be controversial but are you saying that Turkish soldiers should not have come to liberate the Turkish Cypriots -I think many Turkish people would think their sons/fathers/brothers were heroes. Do you really believe thisor do you just like to agitate people - I wonder. Iyi günler. Allah aşkına xx

I remember being in Adelaide, South Australia, having a drink in a bar, when the DJ called a couple of young lads on stage. He then announced that they were off to Vietnam the next day. Everyone cheered but you should have seen the boys faces.

I've always wondered if they made it back home.

Hippo;

with respect to

"As regards your definition of heroes 'die in another country' I wonder what the answer you would have given to the parents of the troops lost in the execution of the peace intervention"

Had they (Turkey) been, done the job and gone,do you think I'd be thinking this way?

Now,at least,from Turkey or Cyprus,we are all turkish/turks.........

England-English......Lebanon-Lebanese....Iraq-Iraqie....Afghanistan-Afgan.................

Stop kidding yourselves and wasting innocent peoples/kids lives for 'your' own selfish (power) reasons.

"many Turkish people would think their sons/fathers/brothers were heroes"

I have no doubt about that. They did/do gain/ed,accupied/ing half an island that doesn't belong to them after all.

I'd dare any of these countries/Turkey to put their money where their mouth/s is/are and go back to their own place once the 'job' they intented to do,is done.Like they said they would.

Fat chance.

All you got left behind is the innocent families to pick up the pieces at 'home'.

And what will happen in Libya, once the ''troops'' have sorted all the mess out and gone home?

Who will run the country?

Watch this space.
